The Severance Silver Knights waltzed into their contest on Wednesday with five straight wins but they left with six. They came out on top against Thompson Valley by a score of 71-62. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Brady Varney was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 23 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Jaden Hoffman was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with six rebounds.
Despite the loss, Thompson Valley still got an impressive performance from Brady Kennison, who scored 23 points along with three steals. Kennison is absolutely dominating the point category: he's posted at least 15 every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Chase Manzani, who scored 12 points along with six assists.
Severance has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. As for Thompson Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-6.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Severance and Mountain View will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 25th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Allowing an average of 50.2 points per game, Mountain View has struggled on the defensive end, but that doesn't have to be the case in this contest. Thompson Valley won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Northridge at 7:00 p.m. on January 25th. Hopefully Northridge focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 last Tuesday.
