Geneseo is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They fell just short of Ottawa by a score of 19-18 on Wednesday. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Maple Leafs, who until this matchup were averaging four runs allowed.
Remlee Dwyer led a balanced group of hitters, going 4-for-5 with five RBI, three runs, and two doubles. Another player making a difference was Penny Kline, who went 4-for-5 with four runs, three doubles, and two RBI.
Rock Island hit Quincy with a eight-run first inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Blue Devils lost 12-2 to the Rocks.
Quincy saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mia Ellefritz, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Geneseo's loss ended a seven-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 21-10-1. As for Quincy, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-18.
Quincy's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Geneseo has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.2 hits per game. It's a different story for Quincy, though, as they've been averaging 9.8 hits. Given Geneseo's sizable advantage in that area, the Blue Devils will need to find a way to close that gap.
