The Mesa Jackrabbits entered their tilt with the Desert Mountain Wolves with nine consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with ten. Mesa snuck past Desert Mountain with a 68-64 win on Monday. The victory was all the more spectacular given Mesa's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 28th, while Desert Mountain is ranked fourth).
Mesa's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Conway Cummard, who almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine assists. Another player making a difference was John Petersen, who scored 16 points.
Mesa is on a roll lately: they've won 15 of their last 17 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 22-5 record this season. As for Desert Mountain, their loss ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 19-6.
Mesa does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Desert Mountain, they will head out on the road to square off against Millennium at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Desert Mountain's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
