Los Padres recap November 5, 2013
Lompoc extended the longest winning streak in Los Padres this week by beating Nipomo, 80-28. The victory was the seventh in a row for the team.
The Titans fell to Lompoc 80-28 last week, the largest margin of any game. Matt Albright threw for 297 yards and 3 touchdowns in the defeat.
He was 19-33 with 2 interceptions.
Derrick Portis was a force in the backfield as Andrew Jones' team topped Russell Edwards' team.
Brandon Hettenhouser was the best wideout in the league this week as the Titans lost to the Braves. Hettenhouser tallied 7 receptions for 133 yards. Harrison Labastida helped Nipomo's passing attack out by catching 5 balls for 79 yards.
Nipomo's Albright and Hettenhouser led the league in both passing and receiving yards. 6-2 quarterback Albright has thrown for 2,185 yards this season, while Hettenhouser has 51 catches for 589 yards. Lompoc's Portis leads the league in rushing yards with 1,188.
A.J. Florez of the the Braves is just 14 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season. In 118 carries Florez has accumulated 986 yard this year.
Fans will be treated to a premier battle in the secondary when the Titans' Hettenhouser goes up against Santa Ynez's Nick Nielsen.
Next week's game between Nipomo and the Pirates will feature a good passing match up as Albright will test his arm against Nielsen's defensive ability.
One of Los Padres' premier quarterbacks will face off with its top pass rusher when the Titans and Santa Ynez face off next week.
An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Lompoc takes on the Conquistadores. As it stands, the Braves are in first, while Cabrillo is in fifth.
Lompoc led the league in scoring this week by notching 80 points on Nipomo. Portis ran for 247 yards in the win.
