Del Sol has gone a perfect 7-0 against Sunrise Mountain recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. Del Sol will challenge Sunrise Mountain at 3:30 p.m. Del Sol is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.6 runs per game this season.
Del Sol can't be too worried about heading out to take on Sunrise Mountain: they just beat Cheyenne at home, who had been dominant on their own field up to that point. Del Sol came out on top against Cheyenne by a score of 5-2 on Tuesday. The game was the first time the Dragons have beaten the Desert Shields on their field since March 28, 2017.

Erik Gonzalez made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Gonzalez was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. He is becoming a predictor of Del Sol's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 1-5 when he doesn't).
Gonzalez wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Oscar Carrington, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Del Sol is undefeated when Carrington posts two or more runs, but 1-5 otherwise. Another was Bryan Sanchez, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Sunrise Mountain). Everything went their way against Democracy Prep Agassi Campus on Monday as Sunrise Mountain made off with a 13-3 victory. The high-scoring effort was just what the Miners needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.
Like Del Sol, Sunrise Mountain also got a great game from a two-way player: Zidro Solis. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Solis was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Elton Whitehead, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Jonathan Hernadez was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.
Sunrise Mountain always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Democracy Prep Agassi Campus only posted an OBP of .429.
The win got Del Sol back to even at 5-5. As for Sunrise Mountain, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-5.
Del Sol took their win against Sunrise Mountain in their previous matchup back in March of 2019 by a conclusive 13-3. Will Del Sol repeat their success, or does Sunrise Mountain has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
