Basketball Recap: Chesterton Academy of Our Lady of Victory Falls Despite Big Games from Diego Gutierrez and Carter Grady

It was fun while it lasted, but Chesterton Academy of Our Lady of Victory's undefeated season came to an end after three games on Thursday. They took a hard 58-43 fall against the Denver Jewish Day Tigers. The loss was the Knights' first of the season.

Chesterton Academy of Our Lady of Victory's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Carter Grady, who posted 16 points, and Diego Gutierrez, who had eight points and nine rebounds. The contest was Grady's third in a row with at least ten points. Rienzi Orellana was another key player, putting up ten points.

Solly Bielsky continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Denver Jewish Day, going 9 for 16 en route to 23 points along with six boards and three steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which Bielsky has scored at least a third of Denver Jewish Day's points. Another player making a difference was Michael Rafailov, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 12 rebounds.

Having lost for the first time this season, Chesterton Academy of Our Lady of Victory fell to 3-1. As for Denver Jewish Day, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 4-4 record this season.

Chesterton Academy of Our Lady of Victory will head out to challenge Rocky Mountain Lutheran at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Denver Jewish Day, they will host Flatirons Academy at 7:00 p.m. on January 30th.
