Elberta is a perfect 8-0 against St. Michael Catholic since March of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Warriors will face off against the Cardinals at 5:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
15 must be Elberta's lucky number: they beat LeFlore with that score not once but twice on Wednesday. The Warriors' pitcher stepped up to hand the Rattlers a 15-0 shutout. With that victory, the Warriors brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.
Peyton Roberts was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Madison Potter also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for St. Michael Catholic, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. Everything went their way against McGill-Toolen on Wednesday as they made off with a 16-1 win. The Cardinals might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine contests by seven runs or more this season.
Addison Pratt was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, St. Michael Catholic got a massive performance out of Maggie Mattison, who scored four runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. That's the most runs Mattison has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Amelia Johnson, who went 2-for-3 with two triples, four RBI, and one run.
St. Michael Catholic always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .714. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as McGill-Toolen only posted an OBP of .167.
St. Michael Catholic is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-15 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Elberta, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-21.
Elberta took their victory against St. Michael Catholic when the teams last played back in March by a conclusive 12-5 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Warriors since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
