Boiling Springs took a ten-run loss the last time they faced off against Shippensburg, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Bubblers came out on top in a nail-biter against the Greyhounds on Thursday, sneaking past 6-5.
Delaney Lawyer was a major factor no matter where she played. She tossed seven innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off eight hits. Lawyer was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Peyton Lawyer, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Gabrielle Vonstein was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Big Spring narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Greencastle-Antrim 3-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Bulldogs have posted against the Blue Devils since April 23, 2022.
Rilee Stewart spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Victoria Rinaldi was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Kendall Boring-Gutshall, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.
Boiling Springs' victory bumped their record up to 9-10. As for Big Spring, their win bumped their record up to 15-4.
