Last Tuesday, Chicago Hope Academy strolled past Walther Christian Academy with points to spare, taking the game 57-38. Given Chicago Hope Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 55th, while Walther Christian Academy is ranked 482nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Chicago Hope Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Janessa Centeno, who scored 16 points. Tiana Simmons was another key contributor, scoring 9 points.
Meanwhile, Woodlands Academy came up short against Schaumburg Christian on Thursday and fell 46-36.
Despite the defeat, Woodlands Academy had strong showings from Regan Stewart, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 13 rebounds, and Dyana Santoyo, who scored 11 points. The game was Stewart's fourth in a row with at least ten points.
Chicago Hope Academy's victory bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Woodlands Academy, they now have a losing record at 3-4.
