Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Sheets Memorial Christian struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Asheboro Hybrid Academy pulled down 17 offensive rebounds.
Among those leading the charge was Emily West, who scored 18 points along with seven steals. The matchup was her third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kayden Mabe, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds and three blocks.
Sheets Memorial Christian's defeat was their sixth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 0-8. As for Asheboro Hybrid Academy, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 4-3.
Sheets Memorial Christian will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Scotland Christian Academy at 5:15 p.m. on January 5, 2024. Scotland Christian Academy presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Sheets Memorial Christian in North Carolina (Scotland Christian Academy is ranked 94th, while Sheets Memorial Christian is ranked 554th). As for Asheboro Hybrid Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Faith Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Faith Christian is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling.
