Basketball Recap: Culver Academies Finds Playoff Glory Versus South Bend St. Joseph

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Culver Academies walked away with it. They blew past the South Bend St. Joseph Huskies 61-38 on Friday. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Culver Academies to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jimara Combs, who almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine boards. What's more, Combs also racked up three assists, the most she's had since back in December of 2024. Kayla Herron was another key player, going 8 for 18 to rack up 22 points.

Culver Academies smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as South Bend St. Joseph only pulled down seven offensive boards.

South Bend St. Joseph lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Alexa Langager, who posted ten points. Another player making a difference was Kenadie Schrock, who scored ten points.

The victory made it two in a row for Culver Academies and bumps their season record up to 19-5. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.0 points over those games. As for South Bend St. Joseph, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-9 record this season.

Culver Academies wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 47-33 win against Glenn on the 8th. South Bend St. Joseph does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
