It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Sierra Chieftains had no problem doing just that on Friday. They blew past Orcutt Academy 40-16. Sierra pushed the score to 40-8 by the end of the third, a deficit Orcutt Academy cut but never quite recovered from.
Sierra's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tanner Forrester, who rushed for 51 yards and a touchdown, and also picked up 40 receiving yards. Aaron Irvine was another key contributor, throwing for 130 yards and two touchdowns while completing 100% of his passes.
Although Orcutt Academy took the loss, they still got scores from Ryan Dollahite and Aiden Orozco.
Sierra has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a massive bump to their 7-5 record this season. As for Orcutt Academy, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-6.
Sierra will head out on the road to face off against Riverdale Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Riverdale Christian is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games. Orcutt Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
