This season hasn't been kind to the Tarpon Springs Spongers, who are still winless after their 12th matchup. They fell 48-40 to Anclote on Wednesday. Tarpon Springs has not had much luck with Anclote recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Several Spongers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Emily Cartier, who scored eight points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mylena Bedford, who scored 11 points.
Tarpon Springs' defeat was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-12. As for Anclote, their win bumped their record up to 3-8.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Tarpon Springs will challenge Seminole at 8:00 p.m. on Monday. Anclote won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Land O' Lakes at 6:30 p.m. on January 18th. Land O' Lakes presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Anclote in Florida (Land O' Lakes is ranked 157th, while Anclote is ranked 498th).
