Sandalwood is a perfect 8-0 against Parker since March of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Sandalwood Saints will take on the Parker Braves at 4:00 p.m. Sandalwood's pitching crew has only allowed 3.1 runs per game this season, so Parker's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Parker will be up against a hot Sandalwood squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. Everything went Sandalwood's way against Orange Park on Tuesday as Sandalwood made off with a 13-5 victory. The Saints might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matches by six runs or more this season.
Bane Barker was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in RBI.
In other batting news, Grayson Thornton and Trent Baskins did most of the damage at the plate: Thornton scored a run while going 2-for-2, while Baskins went 2-for-5 with three RBI and one stolen base. Cortez Martin also deserves some recognition as he scored his first runs of the season.
Meanwhile, Parker fell victim to Paxon School For Advanced Studies and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They lost 10-0 to the Golden Eagles. The loss continues a trend for the Braves in their meetings with the Golden Eagles: they've now lost three in a row.
Parker saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Isaac Ochs, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base.
Sandalwood's record is now 6-4. As for Parker, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-5.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Sandalwood has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Parker struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Sandalwood took their win against Parker when the teams last played back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 11-0. Will Sandalwood repeat their success, or does Parker have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
