Mathis has gone 9-1 against Odem recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Pirates will be playing at home against the Owls at 7:00 p.m. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Mathis sitting on six straight victories and Odem on three.
Mathis' pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They put the hurt on West Oso with a sharp 17-0 win. The Pirates might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matchups by six runs or more this season.

Alyssa Herrera made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over 5.2 innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 3-for-4. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 1.1 stolen bases per game.
In other batting news, Marivel Martinez and Leilani Cantu did most of the damage at the plate: Martinez went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs, while Cantu scored four runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-4. That's the most stolen bases Martinez has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Angelina Hernandez, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4.
Mathis hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Odem ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They had just enough and edged out Aransas Pass 9-8. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Owls have posted since March 7th.
Aria Bray spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and six unearned) runs on 11 hits and racked up eight Ks.
At the plate, Julia Garza was incredible, going 4-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Another player making a difference was Anabella Santellana, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4.
Mathis pushed their record up to 12-6-1 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Odem, their win bumped their record up to 12-13.
Odem's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Mathis hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .461. It's a different story for Odem, though, as they've only averaged .240. Will they be able to contain Mathis' hitters?
Mathis took their victory against Odem in their previous matchup back in March by a conclusive 16-4 score. Will the Pirates repeat their success, or do the Owls have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
