Claiborne extended their losing streak to four on Monday, dropping them down to 1-4. They lost 11-4 to the Campbell County Cougars. The Bulldogs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cougars apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2025.

Parker Herrell was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He pitched 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and one run. Those stolen bases were his first of the season.
In other batting news, Noah Burke made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. Sam Wilson was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.
As for Campbell County, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-2. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won three contests by seven runs or more so far this season.
Like Claiborne, Campbell County also got a great game from a two-way player: Riley Gunter. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over four innings pitched. Gunter was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, Caden Idles was a standout: he went 2-for-5 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Rylan Rice, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
While Claiborne had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
