The Sequatchie County Indians fought the good fight in their overtime contest against the Marion County Warriors on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 48-47 to the Warriors. Sequatchie County was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Warriors apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January.
Despite the loss, Sequatchie County saw an underclassman step up: Ryker Terry dropped a double-double on 19 points and 13 rebounds. Terry is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last seven games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Colton Cribbs, who scored 11 points.
Sequatchie County dropped their record down to 12-11 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Marion County, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-10.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sequatchie County won't have much time to rest: their next game is against the Patriots at 4:00 p.m. on February 3rd. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Tennessee (Chattanooga School for the Arts & Sciences is ranked 223rd, while the Indians are ranked 243rd). As for Marion County, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against the Wildcats at 6:30 p.m.
