Kettle Falls extended their losing streak to three on Saturday, dropping them down to 3-9. They lost 11-2 to the Northwest Christian School Crusaders. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Crusaders this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 1-0 on Saturday.
Cody Adams made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
As for Northwest Christian School, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 10-2. The result was nothing new for the Crusaders, who have now won eight games by six runs or more so far this season.
On Northwest Christian School's side, Chase Mortlock made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. What's more, Mortlock posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March of 2025. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.
In other batting news, Benjo Roth and Preston Mortlock did most of the damage at the plate: Roth went 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one double, while Preston went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most RBI Roth has posted since back in March. Adin Spuler was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Kettle Falls will square off against rival Davenport at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Northwest Christian School is set to take on their familiar foe Chewelah at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Crusaders 3.3, the Cougars 3) so any runs scored will be well earned.
