The Douglass Red Devils waltzed into their match Friday with three straight wins but they left with four. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 48-46 win over Coahoma County. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Douglass also won the last time the pair played on Tuesday.
When it comes to explaining why Coahoma County lost, one person who can't be blamed is Caitlin Hall. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 20 points and 27 rebounds. Hall scored a full 43.5% of Coahoma County's points, the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Douglass' win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-1. As for Coahoma County, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-4.
Douglass will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Trezevant at 6:00 p.m. on January 9, 2024. As for Coahoma County, they will head out on the road to face off against North Side at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
