In other batting news, Samia Shakan and Adrianna Carter did most of the damage at the plate: Shakan got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and four RBI, while Carter got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs, two RBI, and one double. Those four runs gave Carter a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Olivia Audette, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.
Burrillville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .771. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, after some red-hot attacks at the plate in their last three matchups, Johnston finally came back down to earth on Monday. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of St. Raphael Academy. The game marked the first time this season in which the Panthers were not able to get on the board.
Haley Boudreau spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on five hits and racked up 17 Ks. Those 17 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.
Burrillville now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Johnston, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 4-1.
Wednesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Burrillville has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .537. However, it's not like Johnston struggles in that department as they've averaged .530. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
