Silverton is a perfect 10-0 against Crescent Valley since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Foxes will head out on the road to take on the Raiders at 5:00 p.m. Silverton is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.2 runs per game this season.
Crescent Valley will be up against a hot Silverton team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. The Foxes walked away with a 4-0 win over West Albany on Wednesday.
Mckenzee Petersen was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over six innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. That stolen base was her first of the season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Madalynn Ehrens, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs. Another player making a difference was Paisley Rains, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run.
Meanwhile, Crescent Valley didn't have quite enough to beat South Albany on Wednesday and fell 18-16. The Raiders have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Ashley Howitt made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 4-for-4 with five runs, four RBI, and two doubles. Abby Kessler was another key player, going 1-for-4 with four runs and one double.
Silverton's record is now 7-4. As for Crescent Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-8.
Friday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Silverton hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .319. However, it's not like Crescent Valley struggles in that department as they've averaged .351. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Silverton took their victory against Crescent Valley when the teams last played back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 17-1 score. Do the Foxes have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Raiders turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
