The Capital Golden Eagles's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fifth straight loss. They took a 55-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of Eagle. While losing is never fun, Capital can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Idaho basketball rankings (they are ranked 67th, while the Mustangs are ranked 11th).
Leading Eagle to victory were Berkley Jones and Mary (molly) johnson. Jones scored 16 points along with two steals, while (molly) johnson scored 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Alyson Vieira, who scored six points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Capital's defeat dropped their record down to 6-16. As for Eagle, they have been performing well recently as they've won 12 of their last 15 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-8 record this season.
Capital does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Eagle will be staying on the road on Wednesday to face off against the Vikings at 6:00 p.m. on February 7th. Middleton is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last 16 games.
