The Stockbridge Tigers and the Perry Panthers squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but sadly the Stockbridge Tigers had to settle for second. They fell 38-27 to the Panthers. Stockbridge's loss signaled the end of their 12-game winning streak.
Several Tigers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Cobey Thompkins, who rushed for 123 yards while picking up 7.7 yards per carry, and also threw for 155 yards and three touchdowns. Those 123 rushing yards set a new season-high mark for him. Jayden Howard also deserves a shout-out for his three touchdowns.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Perry to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ahmad Gordon, who rushed for 81 yards and three touchdowns. Gordon has been hot recently, having posted two or more rushing touchdowns the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Dakarai Anderson, who picked up 143 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Another reason for the win was Perry's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. Jerrel Pinckney was especially locked on to Stockbridge's QB and sacked him twice.
Stockbridge's defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-3. As for Perry, they pushed their record up to 13-2 with that victory, which was their sixth straight at home.
Stockbridge does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Perry also has no future games currently scheduled.
