Softball Recap: Tooele Wins Going Away Against Park City

Tooele never let their opponents score on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 16-0 margin over the Park City Miners. Considering the Buffaloes have won seven games by more than seven runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Jaelyn Woods looked comfortable as she struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, Tooele got a massive performance out of Hunter Culley, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three RBI, one run, and one double. Ileiah Pacheco was another key player, going 2-for-3 with four RBI and two runs.

Tooele was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .306 or higher in six consecutive matches.

Tooele is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 10-11 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.5 runs over those games. As for Park City, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-12 record this season.

Tooele is taking a road trip to square off against Cyprus at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. The Buffaloes' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Pirates have averaged an impressive 6.8 runs per game this season. Park City will be paying especially close attention to Tooele's match: after Tooele faces off against Murray, they'll take on Park City again at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
