The team relied heavily on Demie Havens, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Johnna Hiatt, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.
Madison-Grant was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .435. They are 8-2 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Lapel never got on the board in their matchup on Saturday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Greencastle on Saturday. They were the clear victors by a 12-0 margin over the Tiger Cubs.
The result came thanks to Addison Bodenhorn's shutout, as she gave up just four hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Paige Stires was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Taylor Mroz, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.
Madison-Grant's record is now 10-5. As for Lapel, their record now sits at 14-4.
Wednesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Madison-Grant hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .428. However, it's not like Lapel struggles in that department as they've averaged .331. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Madison-Grant suffered a grim 15-5 defeat to Lapel in their previous matchup back in April. Can the Argylls avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
