Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Smyrna Eagles, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They were just a hair shy of victory on Friday and fell 41-40 to Salesianum. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
Despite the loss, Smyrna still got an impressive performance from Jacob Tiberi, who threw for 253 yards and three touchdowns while completing 72.2% of his passes. Kahmaj Kearney also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Smyrna's loss dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Salesianum, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-1.
Smyrna does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Salesianum will square off against Middletown at TBD on Saturday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Delaware (Middletown is ranked second, while Salesianum is ranked first).
