Estero hasn't had much luck against Gulf Coast recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Wildcats will welcome the Sharks at 7:00 p.m. Estero will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.
Estero's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. Everything went their way against First Baptist Academy as they made off with a 10-0 victory. That looming 10-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Wildcats yet this season.

Derek Van Roekel made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out seven over six innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in February. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Estero let Evan Goeller and Trevor Jones run wild. Goeller went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Jones went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Kohler Scott, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Estero was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .417. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Gulf Coast didn't have quite enough to beat American Heritage on Saturday and fell 2-1.
Gulf Coast saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Eric Hermanson, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.
Estero's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-9. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.7 runs over those games. As for Gulf Coast, their loss dropped their record down to 11-7.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Estero has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.4 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Gulf Coast struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8.1 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Estero came out on top in a nail-biter against Gulf Coast when the teams last played back in February of 2025, sneaking past 3-2. Will the Wildcats repeat their success, or do the Sharks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
