Sam Crooks made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and four RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April.
In other batting news, Independence let Owen Jenks and Andrew Stamp run wild. Jenks went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run, while Stamp went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs and one stolen base. That's the most runs Stamp has posted since back in April of 2024.
The win made it two in a row for Independence and bumps their season record up to 18-4. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 1 runs in those games. As for East Canton, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-16.
Looking ahead, Independence will challenge Dalton at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bulldogs will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Blue Devils surely won't give up without a fight. East Canton does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
