For the first time this season, Thousand Oaks will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will venture away from home to face off against the Calabasas Coyotes at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
Thousand Oaks lost 48-28 to Simi Valley last Friday. The defeat continues a trend for the Lancers in their meetings with the Pioneers: they've now lost six in a row.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Jackson Taylor, who threw for 251 yards and four touchdowns. He is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in each of the last four games he's played. Hayden Vercher was Taylor's top target, picking up 100 receiving yards and a pair of scores.
Meanwhile, Calabasas took a blow against Los Alamitos on Friday, falling 48-21. While losing is never fun, the Coyotes can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 163rd, while the Griffins are ranked 11th).
Thousand Oaks will have to keep a close watch on Kayne Miller and Dominik Hardy, a pair of players who had a big impact on Calabasas' prior game. Miller rushed for 125 yards and one TD on only 13 carries, while Hardy threw for 203 yards and one touchdown.
Having lost for the first time this season, Thousand Oaks fell to 4-1. As for Calabasas, their loss dropped their record down to 3-2.
We should be in store for an exciting game as the two teams have no problem gaining yardage. Thousand Oaks has been on an offensive roll this season, having averaged 354.8 total yards per game. However, it's not like Calabasas struggles in that department as they've been averaging 378.4 total yards. With a pair of commanding offenses duking it out, the defenses are going to have their work cut out for them.
Everything came up roses for Thousand Oaks against Calabasas when the teams last played back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 37-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lancers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
