The Eagle Pass Eagles will venture away from home to take on the Central Catholic Buttons at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Eagle Pass 3.7, Central Catholic 3.4) so any runs scored will be well earned.
On Friday, Eagle Pass didn't have quite enough to beat Medina Valley and fell 4-3.
Aquiles Garcia was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over six innings pitched. What's more, he gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in February.
On the hitting side, David Hernandez made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Central Catholic had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They never let the Chargers get on the board and left with a 12-0 win.
Matthew McClenan was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two RBI.
In other batting news, Luke Ramos was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Rick Ramirez, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one triple.
Central Catholic kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in March of 2025.
Central Catholic's record now sits at 14-7. As for Eagle Pass, they dropped their record down to 7-6-2 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road.
Eagle Pass couldn't quite finish off Central Catholic in their previous meeting back in March of 2025 and fell 5-3. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
