Winning is just a little bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 20 to 7 on the offensive boards, a fact Abbeville proved on Friday. They walked away with a 63-51 win over Mid-Carolina. Given Abbeville's advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 68th, while Mid-Carolina is ranked 207th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Abbeville got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Justin Rollinson out in front who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and six assists. Another player making a difference was Damarcus Leach, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds and two blocks.
Saluda suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Tuesday. They were the victim of a rough 54-32 defeat at the hands of Mid-Carolina. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Saluda has scored all season.
Abbeville's victory bumped their record up to 8-2. As for Saluda, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-13 record this season.
Abbeville beat Saluda 60-53 in their previous matchup on January 10th. The rematch might be a little tougher for Abbeville since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
