In a tight matchup that could have gone either way, they made off with a 49-48 victory over the Lions. The win made it back-to-back wins for Word of God Academy.
Word of God Academy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Taj Bell out in front who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds. Bell is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down nine or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Zyere Cartwright, who scored 14 points.
Acadiana Christian's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ty Olivier, who scored 24 points along with six rebounds and four steals. That was a full 50% of Acadiana Christian's points, marking the sixth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Noah Lanclos, who scored 18 points along with five assists and five rebounds.
Word of God Academy is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. As for Acadiana Christian, their defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-6.
