It was a good run, but the Chipley Tigers unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They were beaten by Ponce De Leon 56-24. Chipley has struggled against Ponce De Leon recently, as their game on Tuesday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Chipley lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Sophie Whitaker, who scored seven points. Whitaker continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Sarayah Hogan was another key contributor, scoring five points along with five assists.
Chipley has fallen quite a ways from their 21-7 record last season and are now at 3-5. As for Ponce De Leon, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Chipley will face off against Holmes County at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Holmes County is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 59.2 points per game. As for Ponce De Leon, they will head out on the road to face off against Bethlehem at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Bethlehem will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 319th, while Ponce De Leon is ranked 47th).
