The Fletcher Falcons just played last night, but they'll still head out to face the Lee Park Prep Knights at 6:30 p.m. on January 23rd. Fletcher is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
On Monday, things could have been worse for Fletcher, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 27-12 loss to Providence Classical. While losing is never fun, Fletcher can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 539th in North Carolina, while Providence Classical is ranked 235th in South Carolina).
Even though Lee Park Prep has not done well against Liberty Preparatory Christian recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Lee Park Prep snuck past Liberty Preparatory Christian with a 38-33 victory. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Lee Park Prep.
Lee Park Prep found their leader in underclassman Viviana Nigro, who scored 20 points along with two steals. Another player making a difference was Brinley Parker, who scored seven points along with 14 rebounds and three steals.
Fletcher's defeat dropped their record down to 6-8. As for Lee Park Prep, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season.
Fletcher was dealt a bruising 51-13 defeat at the hands of Lee Park Prep in their previous meeting back in November of 2023. Can Fletcher avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
