The Woodland Wolves's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their sixth straight loss. They took a 60-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of Pioneer. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Woodland lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Christopher Aguliar, who scored 16 points. That's the first time this season that Aguliar scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Lincoln Twilley, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 17 rebounds.
Chancey Minshew was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 26 points and 11 rebounds for Pioneer. Minshew continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ben Reis, who scored ten points along with three steals and two blocks.
Woodland has not been sharp recently, as they've lost seven of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record this season. As for Pioneer, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 10-9.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Woodland will take on Casa Roble at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Casa Roble has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 1,513 points over their last 21 games. As for Pioneer, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Mira Loma at 7:30 p.m.
