Dixon has gone a perfect 7-0 against Lejeune recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Bulldogs will face off against the Devilpups at 6:00 p.m. Dixon will be strutting in after a win while Lejeune will be coming in after a loss.
While Dixon didn't have the best season last year (they finished 5-16), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They really took it to South Lenoir for the full four quarters, racking up a 55-15 victory. The Bulldogs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three games by 27 points or more this season.
Dixon found their leader in sophomore Lily Borden, who posted 18 points along with five boards and five steals. Olivia Grigson also deserves some recognition as she scored her first points of the season.
Dixon smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 23 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in 13 consecutive contests dating back to last season.
Meanwhile, Lejeune was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were dealt a 65-26 loss at the hands of Lakewood. The Devilpups were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 38-14.
Dixon will have to contain Madison McQueen as she made an impact in Lejeune's last game. She shot 57% from the field en route to 19 points and three steals. The matchup was McQueen's third in a row with at least 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Alyssa Arce, who earned four points and 13 rebounds.
Dixon's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.0 points over those games. As for Lejeune, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-3.
Everything came up roses for Dixon against Lejeune in their previous matchup back in November, as the squad secured a 56-25 win. In that game, the Bulldogs amassed a halftime lead of 41-13, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Tuesday.
