Carroll and Northridge are an even 4-4 against one another since December of 2018, but not for long. Having just played yesterday, the Chargers will head out on the road to face off against the Raiders at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Carroll has given up an average of 56.4 points per game this season, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
On Friday, Carroll was beaten by Homestead 77-29. The Chargers have struggled against the Spartans recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, Carroll had strong showings from Lily George, who dropped a double-double with ten points and 12 rebounds, and Ava Myers, who posted 11 points. That was a full 34.5% of the Chargers' points, marking the eighth time in a row George has scored more than a third of the team's points.
Meanwhile, Northridge entered their tilt with East Noble on Thursday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They claimed a resounding 76-42 win over the Knights. The Raiders pushed the score to 64-31 by the end of the third, a deficit the Knights had no chance of recovering from.
Carroll better keep an eye on Lily Scholl. She was instrumental in Northridge's win, almost dropping a triple-double with 17 points, 11 boards, and nine assists. Those nine assists gave Scholl a new career-high. Alli Ambers was another key player, going 7-for-12 en route to 17 points and three steals.
Northridge was working as a unit and finished the game with 24 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Northridge's record now sits at 5-3. As for Carroll, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-6.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Carroll has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 24.9 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Northridge struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 28.6 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Carroll was dealt a bruising 79-47 loss at the hands of Northridge in their previous matchup back in December of 2024. Thankfully for the Chargers, Rielyn Goodwin (who shot 59% from the field to rack up 22 points and five assists) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
