On the hitting side, Chloe Troupe was incredible, firing off two home runs and three RBI while going 2-for-3. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. Kayla Valentin was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one double.
Wiregrass Ranch was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .409. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Land O' Lakes only posted a batting average of .214.
Meanwhile, it was close, but on Tuesday Steinbrenner sidestepped Wharton for an 8-6 victory. The win continues a trend for the Warriors in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now won five in a row.
Lilly Patton spent all nine innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on five hits and racked up six Ks.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jenna Fortenberry, who went 1-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Sophie Luaces, who went 2-for-5 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.
Wiregrass Ranch's victory bumped their record up to 22-3. As for Steinbrenner, their win bumped their record up to 18-7.
Steinbrenner's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Wiregrass Ranch has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .473. It's a different story for Steinbrenner, though, as they've only averaged .356. Will they be able to contain Wiregrass Ranch's hitters?
Wiregrass Ranch couldn't quite finish off Steinbrenner in their previous matchup back in March and fell 4-2. Can the Bulls avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
