The Beallsville Blue Devils will head out to challenge the Jefferson County Christian Royals at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Beallsville has given up an average of 12 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Beallsville's last matchup with Clay-Battelle could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's matchup on Friday. The Blue Devils came up short against the Cee-Bees, falling 15-2. The loss was just more heartbreak for the Blue Devils who fell 6-4 when the teams previously met back in April of 2024.
Beallsville saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ryan Dornon, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base. Arryn Baker also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.
For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last four times Jefferson County Christian and Leetonia have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Tuesday. The Royals blew past the Bears 10-2. The Royals might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by six runs or more this season.
The team relied heavily on Carl Bonecutter, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and two triples. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Wyatt Hervey, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one RBI.
Jefferson County Christian's win was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-4. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Beallsville, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-6.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Beallsville has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.5 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Jefferson County Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging 5.7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Beallsville came out on top in a nail-biter against Jefferson County Christian in their previous meeting on Monday, sneaking past 5-4. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Blue Devils since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
