If the GVCS Broadfording Lions were feeling good off their 68-47 takedown of the Cumberland Valley Christian Blazers on Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. GVCS Broadfording fell 66-59 to Southern on Tuesday. GVCS Broadfording has not had much luck with Southern recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Several Lions players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jordan Shifler, who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds and two blocks. Brandon Monroe was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Isaiah Keller continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Southern, scoring 21 points. Keller is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 20 or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Braige Hardesty, who almost dropped a double-double on ten rebounds and nine assists.
GVCS Broadfording has traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-23 record this season. As for Southern, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 12-6.
GVCS Broadfording will head out on the road to square off against McConnellsburg at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Southern, they will be playing at home against Northern at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Southern knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past five games -- so hopefully Northern likes a good challenge.
