Puyallup is a perfect 9-0 against Rogers since October of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Vikings will host the Rams at 7:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Puyallup has six straight victories, Rogers has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Puyallup is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They claimed a resounding 60-0 win over South Kitsap. The Vikings might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by 34 points or more this season.
Puyallup's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Mal Mal Akuffo led the charge by rushing for 90 yards and one score on only ten carries. Another receiver making a difference was Jayden Woodland, who picked up 50 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Puyallup was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 245 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.
Puyallup didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Jasiah Denmark and Woodland.
Meanwhile, Rogers fell victim to Sumner and their airtight defense on Friday. They had to suffer through a 50-0 loss at the hands of the Spartans. While losing is never fun, the Rams can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Washington football rankings (they are ranked 108th, while the Spartans are ranked fifth).
Puyallup's victory bumped their record up to 6-0. As for Rogers, their loss dropped their record down to 2-4.
We should be in store for an exciting game as the two teams have no problem gaining yardage. Puyallup has been on an offensive roll this season, having averaged 462.8 total yards per game. However, it's not like Rogers struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 354.2 total yards. With a pair of commanding offenses duking it out, the defenses are going to have their work cut out for them.
Everything came up roses for Puyallup against Rogers when the teams last played back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 62-12 win. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was the Rams' Josiah Taijeron, who rushed for 142 yards and one TD. Now that he won't be playing on Friday, will it be easier for the Vikings to walk away with another win? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
