Basketball Recap: Ezra Kolsky's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Drew over South San Francisco

If Drew was feeling good fresh off their 64-35 takedown of The Nueva School last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Drew Dragons took a 63-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of the South San Francisco Warriors on Friday. The Dragons have struggled against the Warriors recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Drew's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ezra Kolsky, who posted 21 points and six rebounds. The dominant performance gave Kolsky a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Max Nadler, who went 6 of 15 on his way to 16 points.

Drew's defeat dropped their record down to 4-7. As for South San Francisco, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Drew will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Woodside at 6:00 p.m. on January 3, 2025. Drew is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59.5 points per game this season. As for South San Francisco, they will head out to face off against James Lick at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. South San Francisco knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past four matches -- so hopefully James Lick likes a good challenge.
