The Hill City Ringnecks will be playing at home against the Decatur Community Red Devils at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Decatur Community took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Hill City, who comes in off a win.
Last Friday, Hill City got themselves on the board against Stockton, but Stockton never followed suit. They claimed a resounding 72-0 victory over the Tigers on the road. Given Hill City's advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas football rankings (they are ranked 22nd, while Stockton is ranked 100th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Hill City's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Aiden Amrein led the charge by throwing for 146 yards and four touchdowns on only 13 passes. Jaden Nuss was another key contributor, gaining 85 total yards and three touchdowns.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 54 points the game before, Decatur Community were a bit more limited in their matchup on Friday. They took a serious blow against Rawlins County, falling 58-12. Decatur Community was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 36-12.
Hill City now has a winning record of 4-3. Decatur Community has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Hill City against Decatur Community when the teams last played back in October of 2022 as the team secured a 48-0 win. Will Hill City repeat their success, or does Decatur Community have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
