The Akiachak Huskies had to start their season on the road on Wednesday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They were outmatched by Scammon Bay on the road and fell 75-37.
Despite the loss, Akiachak still got an impressive performance from Vyshonne Chingliak, who scored 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexie Snyder, who scored eight points.
Among those leading the charge was Josiah Sundown, who scored 22 points. Another player making a difference was Kadon Adams, who scored 14 points.
Akiachak's defeat dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Scammon Bay, their win was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-0.
Akiachak will head out on the road to face off against Ket'acik and Aapalluk Memorial at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Scammon Bay, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Emmonak at 9:00 p.m.
