Auburn has gone a perfect 10-0 against Bartlett recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Rockets will take on the Indians at 3:30 p.m. Auburn's pitching crew has only allowed 1.6 runs per game this season, so Bartlett's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Auburn is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Massachusetts' top teams: Uxbridge, who was ranked 21st at the time (Auburn was ranked second). The Rockets fell just short of the Spartans by a score of 5-3 on Monday. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since June 2, 2021, but that streak is no more.
Cameron McLaughlin was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Bartlett ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 10-9 win over Tantasqua Regional. The game was the first time the Indians have beaten the Warriors on their field since April 1, 2016.
Brayden Greene looked comfortable as he tossed four innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Mason Sebastyanski and Adam Phillips did most of the damage at the plate: Sebastyanski got on base in four of his five plate appearances with four runs, while Phillips went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one triple. Sebastyanski has become a key player for Bartlett: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 2-3 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Luigi Villegas, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Bartlett kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Bartlett is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. Having lost for the first time this season, Auburn fell to 12-1.
Wednesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Auburn has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .464. However, it's not like Bartlett struggles in that department as they've averaged .466. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Auburn skirted past Bartlett 7-6 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Will the Rockets repeat their success, or do the Indians have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
