While losing is never fun, Carrollwood Day can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 398th, while Braden River is ranked 143rd).
Carrollwood Day's loss came despite strong showings from Travis Triplett and Ayaan Bhadouria. Triplett dropped a double-double on 17 points and 21 rebounds, while Bhadouria scored ten points. That was a full 37% of Carrollwood Day's points, marking the fifth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Carrollwood Day struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Braden River racked up 14 assists.
Isaac Heaven continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Braden River, scoring 24 points along with six assists and six steals. Another player making a difference was Marcus Schade, who scored 18 points along with three steals.
Carrollwood Day has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost nine of their last 11 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-11 record this season. As for Braden River, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 13 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Carrollwood Day on the road again on Monday and play against Ruskin Christian at 7:30 p.m. on January 22nd. Braden River won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Parrish Community at 7:30 p.m. on January 19th. Parrish Community will be looking to keep their six-game home win streak alive.
