The Maumee Panthers will head out to face off against the Genoa Area Comets at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Genoa Area took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Maumee, who comes in off a win.
Maumee's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They blew past Fostoria 13-0. The Panthers haven't had any issues with the Redmen recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.
Hannah Ruiz made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in May of 2025. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two runs and two RBI.

In other batting news, Reign Hurt was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high. Taylor Smith was another key player, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI.
Maumee always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .700. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Genoa Area didn't have quite enough to beat Clay on Tuesday and fell 4-3. The Comets haven't had much luck with the Eagles recently, as the team has come up short the last seven times they've met.
Genoa Area saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Makenna Witt, who went 1-for-2 with one run.
Genoa Area's defeat dropped their record down to 5-10. As for Maumee, their record now sits at 10-7.
Maumee got the 'W' when the teams last played back in May of 2025 against Genoa Area by a conclusive 19-8 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
