Softball Recap: Arcadia Makes It Four in a Row at Home

Arcadia won the last time they faced Holly Grove Christian and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Firebirds blew past the Eagles 12-1. The result was nothing new for the Firebirds, who have now won eight games by ten runs or more so far this season.

Brinlee Kauthen and Ryann Giddens made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Kauthen tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Giddens didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 11 over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. At the plate, Kauthen went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base, while Giddens went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and two runs.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Olivia Lynch, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April. Payton Taylor was another, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

Arcadia's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-7. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Holly Grove Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-4.

Arcadia didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, an 11-5 win against Chincoteague on the 8th. Holly Grove Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
