Fleming is 8-0 against Briggsdale since October of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Fleming Wildcats will look to defend their home field against the Briggsdale Falcons at 7:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Fleming fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back wins it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They came out on top against Prairie by a score of 40-32 on Friday.
Fleming haved a senior duo take command as Wyatt Cochran rushed for 218 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 7.0 yards per carry and Matix Haney rushed for 189 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 9.9 yards per carry. Cochran is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last three games he's played.
Meanwhile, Briggsdale had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 19 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They breezed by Weldon Valley on the road to the tune of 51-6.
Among those leading the charge was Tanner Fiscus, who picked up 42 receiving yards and two touchdowns, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. The team also got some help courtesy of Dallas Glass, who rushed for 58 yards and a touchdown.
Their wins bumped Fleming to 3-5 and Briggsdale to 4-3.
Friday's game might be decided on the ground as these two are both standouts in the run game. Fleming has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 327.9 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Briggsdale struggles in that department as they've been averaging 182.1 per game. It's looking like Friday's contest might have some serious battles in the trenches.
Everything came up roses for Fleming against Briggsdale when the teams last played back in October of 2022 as the team secured a 71-33 victory. Will Fleming repeat their success, or does Briggsdale have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
