Softball Game Preview: Blackman Blaze vs. Tullahoma Wildcats

The Blackman Blaze will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on the Tullahoma Wildcats at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Tullahoma took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Blackman, who comes in off a win.

Blackman is returning home triumphant after the team finally put their road woes behind them against Cascade on Monday. Blackman walked away with a 7-3 win over Cascade. The Blaze haven't had any issues with the Champions recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Blackman got a great performance from Presley Gilmore as she struck out six batters over 5.1 innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits. That's the fewest hits Gilmore has allowed since back in March of 2024.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Alyssa Barber, who scored four runs and stole a base while going 4-for-4. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Mollee Kent, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Tullahoma was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost 16-6 to Lawrence County.

Madison Goad was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and one double. Kylee Holt was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.

Blackman's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Tullahoma, their loss dropped their record down to 1-4.
